William Carey

William Carey passed away on December 3, 2025 Born in Brooklyn in September of 1947 He moved to Elmwood Park, Staten Island in 1972. then to Arden Heights in 1999. In 2000 he and Eileen then moved to Orlando, Florida , he and Eileen picked up again and moved to Youngsville, North Carolina in 2017. William was the son of the late Mary Carey. Billy proudly served his Country in the United States Army in Kaiserslautern, Germany and was honorably discharged. After he returned State side he worked for Carlino�s dry cleaning in Brooklyn. He left that job to start a job at the New York City Transit Authority, he worked there for 25 years before retiring in January 2000. After moving to Florida he got bored and started a new career as a school bus driver. Billy absolutely loved that job. Every Friday he would hand out candy and every holiday he would dress in costume. He was their friend and some children needed that smile every morning. He had his first stroke in 2009 and unfortunately had to leave that job. After a couple of years he was looking to go back to work. This time he finally got his dream job, working for Walt Disney World in Orlando. He was a doorman at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Anyone that knows Billy, knows he just loves to talk. People loved him and he received many awards. Disney brought him tremendous happiness, and he especially enjoyed the magic and memories that came with being a part of the Disney family. His love for Disney continued throughout his life and he enjoyed collecting Disney memorabilia and collectibles. But, perhaps one of Billy�s greatest passions was music He was an accomplished guitar/bass player and he had a impressive collection of guitars that reflected his lifelong love of music. His musical journey began in Kaiserslautern, Germany. When four young Army men wanted to start a band. He bought a guitar and the rest is history. He played backup guitar for several notable artists. Lynyrd Skynard, The Drifters, Kentucky head hunters, he was in many bands throughout the world. His favorite band was a cover band called Fortunate Son a Creedance Clearwater revival, a band made up of just four Florida guys. They played in many states. His favorite times were when he would go to Sturgis, South Dakota and they would have gigs set up throughout their tour. Billy will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, he was a proud American, his passion for music, his love of children, his affection for Disney, and the many stories and memories he created throughout. His guitar may now be quiet, but the music he brought into the liIves of those who knew him will never be forgotten. He leaves behind his loving wife Eileen (Taylor),his two chidren froma previous marriage Anthony & Janet, he was predeceased by his son Raymond. He was also the stepfather of Joseph Bradley. He is also survived by two brothers James, John and a sister Gladys (Carey) Clark He was the brother in-law of Larry (Camille), Alfred (Tina), Dorothy (Taylor) Graffigna and George, (Jennifer). A Celebration of Billy's life will take palce on Saturday September 12 from 2- 5 p.m. at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals & Cremation Services 111 Main Street Matawan N.J. Inline image
