Our History

Our History

Fifty years ago as a young family, we established a Funeral Home adjacent to the Eltingville Train Station In the town of Eltingville, Staten Island. Our Family Owned funeral home is very proud of the reputation that we have built over the past 50 years. We knew in order to succeed that our new funeral home had to be warm and comfortable, with rooms both large and small enough to accommodate all families and faiths that we serve. We pride ourselves on professionalism, compassion, charity, and fairness in cost. Our unmatched homelike facility and personalized service is something our next generations will strive to provide for our community over the next fifty years.

We have been fortunate enough to accomplish these goals, and our business today has grown to be the largest on Staten Island serving more than 500 families a year.

We believe in giving back to the community in multiple ways. Through the years, our family has been involved in many activities. Some of these include the founding of a Hospice facility on Staten Island, the startup of Meals on Wheels, supporting churches, local non– for profit organizations, youth leagues, and feeding the homeless, just to name a few among many.

In 2015 our family had the fortune of purchasing the Hegarty Funeral Home on Route 9 North in Old Bridge New Jersey. The Hegarty-Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Service serves the surrounding towns of Old Bridge, including but not limited to, Manalapan, Marlboro, Monroe, Englishtown and East Brunswick. We are very pleased that we have been warmly welcomed to the area.

Very shortly, we will be opening our second New Jersey funeral home which will be located at 111 Main Street in the town of Matawan-Aberdeen. This funeral home is centrally located adjacent to Maloney’s Pub and within walking distance to the Matawan-Aberdeen train station. This location will serve the Boroughs of Matawan-Aberdeen as well as the surrounding towns of East Old Bridge, Keyport, Lawrence Harbor, Holmdel and Hazlet.

Our family is committed to serving the Staten Island community and the newest communities from our New Jersey locations. We will strive to care for all with the same compassion and professionalism that we have given over the last 50 years.

Our seven family members are licensed funeral directors in the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and provide professional coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sincerely the Scalia, Moran, McEvilly & Bullen Families
